Arrington: Sonar (Which Took $250K To Build) Is Better Than Color Could Hope To Be
This is the kind of stuff that makes mobile app platforms worth it. I know they didn’t win, but this was certainly my pick from the conference.

PowerUp STL! is on tonight. Last minute prep items aside, I’m really looking forward to this. This is the first event of its kind in the area, and I have no idea how it will turn out. I’m hoping it becomes the first of many. So if you’re in the St. Louis area and are into game development, be sure to stop by!
Success is bound only by our greatest challenge; to be content, is to be locked in mediocrity.

Ok, so in the need of a fix for something Roman, I broke down and watched Spartacus Blood and Sand. I’ll be honest, it’s bad. The acting is bad, the CG is awful, the violence and sex is so obscene it becomes trite, and the rock soundtrack makes it feel like a Dynasty Warriors game. I also get that we’re watching the lives of “lower” more vulgar Romans but I don’t need it beaten into my head every minute. Yet, I watched the entire season. In trying to divine why, it feels much the same as the stent of bad but available Sci-Fi shows (no, I’m not using SyFy even if they are/were on that channel). In all the blood, gore and train wreck of muck there were glimmers of hope. Hope of something decent, that maybe if there was an episode where the crap was washed off, the violence meant something and the story was even told in a slightly more sophisticated way - it could work. Well, the season finale actually did it. Yes it was a total gore-fest but at least it MEANT something in that episode, and it wasn’t a fleeting moment between hormonal urges, it actually was present from start to finish. So I feel high as a kite actually seeing some real promise for the show and ram head first into the wall of Season 2, which is a prequel and just goes back to all the same filth I’d just waded through. Honestly I don’t get it. They even set things up perfectly for moving forward with Spartacus, and instead literally take 2 steps back for the one they finally managed.
After going through everything I just have, I don’t think I can bring myself to watch the new season. I get who this show is for, I really do, my problem is I just have grown up - and I had a spark of hope that this show was actually growing up as well. I guess it, and the majority of the viewers, enjoyed its teat too much.
In case you were holding off on the the best looking game on the iOS, you’ve been rewarded with a 50% discount on Chair’s gem of a title, Infinity Blade, now just $3. There’s no excuse not to buy it now, it even has a new update included. Just do it, Nike style.

New video for the upcoming Mortal Kombat game that goes into details about the “Challenge Tower.” Despite the last several MK games sucking hard, I was given new hope when the designer obviously understood the point of MK -“I beat the shit out of you, and then I rip your head off.” Bingo.
You could call physics the science of apathy, as the knowledge that everything that could happen, already has, isn’t the most motivational realization.
Only boring people get bored.
